Selena Gomez’s Wedding Manicure Is So Princess-Coded

Key Takeaways

  • Selena Gomez chose a pearly pink glazed manicure for her wedding to Benny Blanco.
  • She paired the stunning nail art with an equally beautiful custom gown and vintage-inspired hairstyle.

The wedding finally happened, and the bride wore custom Ralph Lauren for the big day. If you’re asking “who is the bride,” congratulations on the phone-free weekend, I suppose! The bride is Selena Gomez, and on September 27 she and Benny Blanco made their way down the aisle in a highly anticipated and ultra-glam ceremony.

As we wait for more details (I need to know what they served and if Jitlada had anything to do with it, also who DJ’d??), it’s time for the best part of any post-wedding weekend: staring at the photos we do have and analyzing every last detail.

There’s nothing like a Selena Gomez manicure, so fans were obviously eager to see the nail look she chose to tie the knot. Luckily, her husband happily provided with a close-up photo of a post-ceremony hand hold.

Instead of opting for a classic like Chanel’s Le Vernis Longwear Nail Color in Ballerina, which she wore when she got engaged, the 33-year-old turned up the drama with a pearly pink glazed manicure. Her nails were kept medium long and filed into a soft almond shape, and each featured the same light-catching, semi sheer finish. Obviously, her Tiffany & Co earrings were gorgeous… but I might say this was her best accessory?

Nail artist Tom Bachik has yet to share the polish he used to get the look (could it be a glazed up version of CND’s Silk Thread?), but he always provides. And really, I’m sure he’s still soaking in the magic of the weekend.

Alongside Bachik, the singer’s regular glam team was by her side for the major moment. Hung Vanngo was in charge of makeup, and Renato Campora gave her “a flawless, timeless, healthy-looking Hollywood Glamour Marcel Wave Bob” for a day that celebrated “love, beauty, and perfection.”

To get the look, Campora used a suite of Joico products. He started by giving her brunette locks a double wash with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo, followed by a 30-minute treatment with the Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque. Then, he towel-dried and sectioned the strands before adding Joico Dream Blowout Glass 72HR Frizz Fighter “from mid-lengths to ends to ensure even distribution and long-lasting smoothness.”

“Then, using a rat-tail comb, I created a deep side part and transitioned back to the nape of the neck, where I sectioned the hair into two-inch sections. Each section is treated with Joico Joi Whip Design Foam from roots to ends, then blow-dried with a large round brush and pinned to set and cool,” he explained in a press release. “I continued this technique across the entire head to achieve a voluminous and polished base. Once cooled, the hair is noticeably shiny, bouncy, and full of life.”

Styling happened starting at the front of Gomez’s head, just above her ear, where Campora used a three-quarter-inch spring curling iron (and the Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector, of course) to create the marcel wave pattern, pinning each curl while it cooled so it would hold its shape.

“I repeated this motion across the front, then move to the opposite side, and finally the back—starting at the nape and working upward,” he added. “After all curls have cooled for 20 minutes, I removed the pins and gently brushed through each section to blend the waves together. Special attention is given to the face-framing pieces, which are shaped to highlight and enhance the facial structure.”

To finish things off, he used the brand’s as-of-yet unreleased hairspray, “applying a generous mist to lock in Selena’s entire hairstyle with long-lasting hold and incredible shine.”

“I married a real life Disney princess,” wrote Blanco in his Instagram post caption. And you know what? He really did! A magic one, at that.
