Honda Activa e Gets More Affordable: Battery Rental Plan Now Starts at ₹678/month

The Honda Activa e, one of the most awaited electric scooters in India, is now becoming even more attractive for budget-conscious buyers. Honda has announced a new battery rental plan priced at just ₹678 per month, making electric mobility more accessible than ever. This change directly addresses early concerns that the electric Activa was too expensive to operate compared to petrol scooters.

What Is BaaS and How It Works with Activa e

“Battery as a Service (BaaS) flips the traditional ownership model by letting users pay a monthly fee to rent batteries, ditching the hefty upfront cost of buying them outright The The Honda Activa e makes battery swapping a breeze, allowing riders to simply pop into designated stations and exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones on the go This setup not only reduces the upfront cost of ownership but also makes recharging faster and more convenient for urban commuters.

Honda Activa e BaaS Plan Details

Honda now offers three battery subscription plans for the Activa e. The most affordable one, called the Lite Plan, costs ₹678/month and covers up to 600 km of usage (based on 30 km/kWh). If users exceed the 20 kWh limit, they will be charged ₹70 per extra kWh. The Basic Plan, priced at ₹1,999, covers 35 kWh or 1,040 km/month, and any extra use is billed at ₹35 per kWh. The Advance Plan, for heavy users, is ₹3,599/month and includes up to 87 kWh or 2,600 km/month.

Activa e Pricing – Scooter Cost Not Included

It’s important to understand that the BaaS subscription is not part of the scooter’s price. The Honda Activa e starts at ₹1.17 lakh for the base trim and stretches to ₹1.51 lakh for the top variant (ex-showroom), but keep in mind—these prices cover only the scooter itself; the battery rental rides in as a separate monthly cost.

Technical Specifications and Claimed Range

The Activa e is powered by two 1.5 kWh swappable lithium-ion batteries, offering a claimed range of 102 km on a full charge. These batteries can be swapped easily at Honda’s battery stations, eliminating the need for long charging sessions at home. The battery system is designed for city use and frequent rides under moderate distances.

Swapping Station Network by Honda Japan

The battery swapping stations are developed by Honda Motor Company in Japan and are managed in India by its arm, Honda Power Pack Energy India. These stations will be the heart of the BaaS system, allowing Activa e users to simply walk in, swap an empty battery for a full one, and get back on the road within minutes.
