Taylor Swift’s Nails Are in Their Bridal Era

Key Takeaways

  • Taylor Swift chose a simple, bridal-coded French manicure to promote her new, glitzy, and far from simply stylized album.
  • To be fair, though: nothing beats a classic when you’re showing off an engagement ring.

The life of a showgirl is glamorous and arduous. It involves lots of primping, making sure you’re constantly glammed (you will be photographed) and ideally a little bit glittery. Luckily, it seems Taylor Swift is fine with it. She leans in, at least.

Except where her manicure is concerned? Despite the glitz and pizazz and “that’s showbiz, baby,” of her new era, she’s chosen to keep her nail art demure while promoting it. On Friday, October 3, she went on a media tour, appearing on numerous online shows where fans were able to get a good look at her engagement ring and corresponding nails. Gone were the chunky glitter polishes we know her for, though that would’ve made sense for the album. In their place: a simple French manicure fit for a classic bride.

Taylor Swift’s Bridal French Manicure

It’s not that the manicure had no aura of glamour. French tips are inherently chic, and the look was perfectly chosen to show off Swift’s new jewelry—the showgirl knew the interviewers would be asking about it.

Medium in length and filed into a soft squoval shape, the 35-year-old’s nails featured a nude base and plain white tips. This wasn’t a micro French or a deep French, just a super normal French for a super normal bride. (Just kidding, she is so famous.) Each nail was finished off with a glossy top coat that only just rivaled her old mine cut diamond.

Taylor Swift’s Engagement Era

We should’ve known that we were going to get a mixture of aesthetics when Swift announced her engagement after announcing that a new album was on the way. That dreamy garden photoshoot she shared in August doesn’t match the vibe of the feather-and-rhinestone record, but she let it happen despite putting a lot of foresight into her Instagram feed curation.

One thing those engagement photos did have, though? Another simple manicure! For that special moment, she wore soap nails—another far cry from the orange sparkles she chose to announce the album to the world.

It’s possible to contain multitudes, though. Bridal Taylor and Showgirl Taylor, I’m happy you’re able to share the spotlight.
